Apple to release iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and 4-inch iPhone 6C in 2015

3:57:00 AM     iphone, iphone 6c, iphone 6s, iphone 6s plus, iPhone App Developers India     No comments

Apple will release three different iPhones in the second half of 2015, the iPhone 6S, iPhone 6S Plus and a 4-inch device currently being referred to as iPhone 6C.

According to the report, the flagship 6S and 6S Plus will contain next-generation A9 processors with the 6C taking on the current-gen A8 chip. All models are said to sport Corning Gorilla Glass (not sapphire crystal) as well as Touch ID and NFC hardware, presumably enabling Apple Pay.

There’s no mention of the ‘iPhone 6C’ taking on the polycarbonate body of the iPhone 5c but, given its “C” moniker, it seems logical for that to be the case if the rumors prove true.  Read More.....

WhatsApp voice calling feature: here’s how to get it enabled

10:27:00 PM     Android, whatsapp, whatsapp voice calling     No comments

WhatsApp has finally integrated voice call functionality into the world’s most popular instant messaging app. The WhatsApp call feature has finally been made available to anyone with the very latest version of the app. Be warned though that there is a new WhatsApp voice calling scam going around. Here's how to safely get WhatsApp voice calls on your phone.

How to enable Whats App voice calls

Important: Be warned that there is a new WhatsApp calling scam doing the rounds. Read up, be wary and spread the word.

The ability to activate voice calls on WhatsApp finally seems to be here for keeps. To get it, you need to update your WhatsApp app to at least v2.11.561. The official WhatsApp website now has v2.12.7 (versions before v2.11.561 failed to enable WhatsApp voice calls for us reliably, whereas v2.11.561 has worked first try on several devices, as has v2.12.7).

You’ll need to enable Unknown Sources in your Security settings first and get a call from someone you know that already has the WhatsApp voice calling feature enabled. You'll then see three tabs at the top of your WhatsApp interface: calls, chats and contacts.

The calls tab will show you a detailed call log and in any chat with a WhatsApp contact you'll find that the dialer icon at the top now makes calls direct via WhatsApp and not the regular dialer. We've tested the latest version with several phones and they all worked first try, so it looks like the wait is finally over and WhatsApp voice calls are here for everyone. Still, there's no need to wait for the right version to hit the Play Store is there?

How to enable Whats App voice calls (with root)

In case none of this is still working for you, there is another way for rooted users to force the feature onto their phones, but it is a bit of a pain, as you’ll need to be connected to your PC and open a terminal every time you want to WhatsApp call someone (until it is enabled permanently for you).  Read More.....

Microsoft is testing a Windows 10 ROM that can wipe Android from phones

10:06:00 PM     Android, windows 10, windows app     No comments

It's safe to assume that many Android fans may also be fans of Microsoft Windows fans, too. They might also be smug in the knowledge that Microsoft on mobile devices is of little threat to Android's dominance. However, Microsoft has a new trick up its sleeve - it's testing out a Windows 10 ROM in China which runs on Android devices.
In an announcement about Windows 10, Microsoft said that it is testing the Windows 10 ROM on a small group of "power users" who own the Xiaomi Mi4 - which is an Android device. Sources speaking with Tech Crunch said that the ROM will effectively work like Cyanogenmod, and replace Android and all its services with Windows 10 and all it offers.

China is a country fond of installing custom ROMs on mobile devices, making it a good location for Microsoft to test its Trojan-Horse-like strategy to convert Android users from within their own phones. Microsoft hopes that letting people casually install Windows 10 on their Android devices will open more people up to the OS.

No release date has been set for the Windows 10 ROM, but Microsoft said that "availability will be announced in the months to come". If other custom ROMs are anything to go by, Windows 10 will probably be free for mobile devices, with Microsoft aiming to profit from people using the Windows Store, Office 365 suite, and other services. Galaxy S6 vs Nexus 6 comparison: Samsung and Google

10:44:00 PM     Android, nexus 6, samsung galaxy s6     No comments

The Samsung Galaxy S6 was finally revealed to us at MWC 2015 after months of speculation. With a beautiful screen, unparalleled camera technology and a slick design, Samsung came out all-guns blazing with its new flagship. But how does it compare to Google's QHD giant of the moment, theGoogle Nexus 6? Find out in our Galaxy S6 vs Nexus 6 comparison.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Google Nexus 6: Design

The Nexus 6, developed by Motorola, adopted the design of the Moto X (2014), featuring a similar body and button/speaker placement. The device is surrounded by an aluminum frame, with the front made entirely of glass and the rear featuring slightly curved polycarbonate. It's a well thought-out design and is easier to hold than might be expected for a 6-inch phablet.

Samsung has gone all-out with the design of its S6, featuring luxurious glass front and back plates, sealed in with aluminium edges. It builds upon the impressive Galaxy Note 4 design and completely outshines that of the Galaxy S5. Samsung has clearly been listening to consumers and this sleek handset shows a new commitment to producing quality designs at the high-end.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Google Nexus 6: Display

The Nexus 6 offers a 5.96-inch display with QHD (2560x1440 pixels) resolution and 493 ppi. It's bold, without getting in your face; colors look realistic, but never aggressive. The Galaxy S6's Super AMOLED display also boasts QHD resolution, but only with a 5.1-inch screen.
The Galaxy S6 obviously can't compete with the display area of the Nexus 6, which is almost an inch bigger, but the S6 is certainly the stronger performer. Bright, pin-sharp, impossibly detailed - it's one of the best to arrive on the Android platform, if not the best.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Google Nexus 6: Software

The Nexus 6 was the first smartphone to come with Android 5.0 Lollipop. Because it's a Google device, the Nexus 6 runs the stock version of the software. This is the pure Android experience.
The Galaxy S6 features Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Samsung's own TouchWiz interface placed on top. Samsung claimed that the new OS would not come with the avalanche of apps usually pre-installed on Galaxy S-branded devices, but it still features a bunch. Having said that, the new UI is an improvement, it's faster and more intuitive, with some updated animations and effects.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Google Nexus 6: Performance

During our time with it, the Nexus 6 has always been fluid and responsive. Apps start quickly, animations never lag and gaming is a real pleasure thanks to its Snapdragon 805 quad-core 2.7 GHz processor, backed by 3 GB of RAM.
The Samsung Galaxy S6 features a latest Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit chipset, supported by 3 GB of RAM. We've only had a brief opportunity to experience its performance so far, but we anticipate it will be one of the best performers on Android. It's worth pointing out that neither device comes with expandable memory via a microSD slot.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Google Nexus 6: Camera

The Nexus 6 offers a 13 MP main camera which produces quality snaps, even if the auto-focus can be hit-or-miss (though overall camera quality is a vast improvement over the Nexus 5). The Nexus 6 also features an adequate 2 MP front-facing camera.

The Galaxy S6 has a 16 MP rear-camera, which provides brilliantly sharp images even in low-light conditions thanks to an f / 1.9 aperture, and some smart Samsung image processing. You can usually rely on Samsung to deliver on display and camera quality, and it has proved itself once again. A 5 MP front-camera ensures selfie fans will be satisfied, also.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Google Nexus 6: Battery

The 3,220mAh battery built into the Nexus 6 delivers strong performance. We recently put it to the test by taking pictures, playing video and music files, checking emails and posting content on Facebook, and it provided us with a total of 27 hours, with 17 percent charge remaining.

The Galaxy S6 is powered by a 15pxer, 2550 mAh battery, though it can charge wirelessly like the Nexus 6 can. The S6 is also said to deliver four hours of battery life in just a 10 minute charge, but we haven't yet been able to fully test the S6's battery capabilities. For that we'll have to wait until our final review.

How to install WhatsApp on your PC

3:26:00 AM     Android, whatsapp     No comments

WhatsApp is the bread and butter of instant messaging nowadays. It's backed by Facebook and hundreds of millions of users. But how do I get it on PC? Read on for two tutorials on how to install WhatsApp on your PC.

How to install WhatsApp using the official Chrome web-client

This is the easiest solution, as WhatsApp has developed an official web-client for this purpose.

Go to web.whatsapp.com on your PC and scan the QR code with your phone (using QR code reader or a similar app), then follow the installation instructions. This provides you with all of the regular WhatsApp functionality, like voice and picture messaging, but there is a caveat. The WhatsApp web-client acts as a "mirror" for your device, meaning you will only receive messages on WhatsApp web if you receive it on your phone also. Your device has to be switched on, and connected to the internet, to use the web-client.

The above method will work for anybody running a Windows machine, with WhatsApp on their smartphone, and using Firefox, Internet Explorer, or Chrome. If, for whatever reason, the above solution doesn't do it for you, there is another way to get WhatsApp on PC. We would strongly advise the above method first though.

How to install WhatsApp using BlueStacks

This process takes about ten minutes and involves installing an Android emulator known as BlueStacks. This program will replicate you Android smartphone on your computer and it can be installed from Google Play.

IMPORTANT:

When you activate WhatsApp on your computer using this method, the account on your smartphone will be deactivated, as it only allows one account per device.
BlueStacks is an English-only application, so if you are using a different language, make sure that you do not use characters/letters which aren’t found in the English alphabet.
  1. Download and install BlueStacks.
  1. When you open the program you will see a search icon in the top left hand side which you will use to search for WhatsApp (or just click the WhatsApp icon if it is there when it loads).

  1. In order to search for the application, BlueStacks requires two configuration steps. For this reason, it will open a window called One Time Setup. Follow the instructions until you see the message.
  1. After you are finished this process, Google Play will automatically open. Now you’ll need to insert the information from your account.
  1. Once you are in Google Play, it’s the same old steps: search and install WhatsApp.

  1. Finally you simply need to set up your account in the application and indicate your phone number and country, after which you will receive a verification code of
6 digits on your phone. This code then needs to be entered into the verification box.

How to speed up the Nexus 5 for fast performance

1:45:00 AM     Android, nexus5     No comments

The Nexus 5 is a great phone, and upgrading it to Android Lollipop makes it greater still. Unfortunately, however, you might find that after the upgrade it feels slower rather than slicker. If that sounds like your phone, read on to discover how to speed up the Nexus 5 for fast performance.

We know what you’re thinking. Android Lollipop is supposed to be faster. Didn’t Google go on about optimizations and new runtimes and all that stuff? And you’re right, but Google can’t test every possible combination of operating system, data and apps, and as a result updates can result in a few performance issues.

Clear the cache

Your Nexus 5 stores temporary data in two places, the app cache (for apps) and the system cache (for Android itself). If that gets messed up it can have a knock-on effect on your phone’s performance, so it’s a good idea to clean both of them. This shouldn’t affect any of your personal settings or data but it’s always a good idea to make a backup before experimenting.
To clear the app cache:
  • Go to Settings > Device > Apps > All.
  • Tap on the name of the app whose cache you want to delete.
You should now see a screen with lots of options and information. The bit we’re looking for is the button that says Clear Cache, which will appear if that app uses a cache. Make sure you tap the Clear Cache button and not the one that says Clear Data, because that - as you’d expect - clears all of the data for that application, such as user names, passwords, game progress and so on.

To clean the system cache, all you need to do is to go into Settings > Storage > Cache and clear the system cache.

Speed up animations

Animated transitions in operating systems are often there to distract you while the system loads something, but there’s no need for that on a fast device such as the Nexus 5. In system settings, go into Developer Options and turn it on if it isn’t already. Now, scroll down until you see Window Animation Scale, Transition Animation Scale and Animator Duration Scale. You can turn these options off to disable animation altogether, but cutting them to 0.5x gives you a speed boost without making Android feel weird. If you don’t notice any difference after making the changes, restart your Nexus.

Investigate potential offenders

If your Nexus is still performing more slowly than it should, the next step is to see if you can identify particular offenders. Is the slowness due to your phone, or is it app- or website-specific? No amount of messing around with your device will fix the latter two. If it appears to be app-related, uninstalling and reinstalling might make a difference.
If you’re pretty sure that it’s your phone, then the next thing to consider is the nuclear option: a full reset. This takes your phone back to factory-fresh condition and should eliminate any niggling issues that could be affecting your performance. Always make sure you’ve backed up anything important - from photos to app passwords - before getting ready to go nuclear.
Done that? Okay.

  • Untick Back Up My Data, assuming you do actually have a backup
  • Tap Factory Data Reset
  • Enter your PIN or password if asked to. Tap Continue.
  • Tap on Delete All.

If that doesn’t work, there’s an even more nuclear option: the hard reset. This is another full erase, but this time it includes anything on your internal SD card too. It won’t wipe out any Android updates you’ve installed, but it gets rid of absolutely everything else. To do that:
  • From a powered off state, press the Power button to start your Nexus 5. When you see the Google logo press and hold the Volume Down key and release when the device vibrates.
  • Use the volume keys to highlight Recovery Menu and press the Power button to select. This will bring you to a screen with an Android on its back.
  • Hold the Volume Up key for 5 secs then release and a new menu will appear.
  • First off, you can use the volume keys to select Wipe Cache Partition. This will cause your phone to restart. once this is done, re-do the previous steps to get back to the same screen (the one that Wipe Cache Partition was on).
  • Highlight Wipe Data/Factory Reset and select using the Power key. Scroll down to Yes, Delete All Data and press the Power button again to select.
  • Your Nexus 5 will now wipe your data and reformat.
  • On the next screen hit the Power button to select Reboot System Now.

Samsung Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5 comparison: does the new Galaxy get it right?

9:49:00 PM     Android, galaxy s5, samsung galaxy s6     No comments

The Galaxy S6 has been revealed at MWC 2015 which means we finally might be able to move on from its rather lackluster predecessor, the Galaxy S5. Does Samsung's new device meet the lofty expectations? Find out in our Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5 comparison.

Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5: Design

Samsung was promising a complete redesign for the Galaxy S6 leading up to its unveiling, and while it's still clearly a Galaxy S device, there have been some significant changes. The dimpled black plastic rear, the painted "chrome effect" edges - these are visual elements that characterized the Galaxy S5 and few approved of the overall design.

Thankfully, none of this is found on the Galaxy S6. Instead, we are treated to a metal and glass body, which highlights a big step up in terms of quality for Samsung, even compared to the already attractive Galaxy Note 4.

The Galaxy S6 represents a dramatic improvement in design terms over the S5, but some aspects still leave something to be desired. The glass rear is a huge fingerprint magnet, and the raised square camera lens may turn some people off.

Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5: Price

The MSRP of the Galaxy S5 stood at 649 USD (699 euros) upon release. The Galaxy S6 will also launch for 699 euros, and so we expect its US price will once again be 649 USD for the base model (32 GB version). The 64 GB version will cost 799 euros (749 USD) and it's 899 (849 USD) for the 128 GB version. It's not cheap, and you may have to shell out a little more for larger internal storage, as the Galaxy S6 doesn't house a microSD card slot like its predecessor.

Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5: Specs

Not only has Samsung done away with expandable storage, but the S6 doesn't house a removable battery either. And to add insult to injury, the battery has also shrunk in comparison to the Galaxy S5 (though it does charge around 50% faster, and can also charge wirelessly). Yet t's not all doom and gloom because the Galaxy S6 has a glorious see-it-to-believe-it QHD display while the S5 sits on Full-HD.

The rest of the technical specs in the Galaxy S6 won't surprise anyone who has been familiar with the rumors. Although Samsung has not officially confirmed it, we think the Galaxy S6 is rocking the Exynos 7420 chipset, as Samsung has parted ways with Qualcomm.

It should also be mentioned that unlocking the home screen via fingerprint sensor is finally comfortable, and no longer requires awkward swiping, instead a simple touch will do it.

Galaxy S6 vs Galaxy S5: Software

The Galaxy S6 runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop with Samsung's TouchWiz UI. Much of the speculation around Samsung's new software focused on a completely stripped-down interface with less bloatware than ever before. This is partially true, the Galaxy S6 features less pre-installed Samsung apps than the Galaxy S5, but it still prepackages a fair number. S Health and S Voice make a return, as does Samsung's "My magazine" news scroll, accessible from the far left home screen.

Conclusion

The Galaxy S6 promises to be a clear step forward in many ways: better camera, design, processor, and display. All of the ways that the average consumer is sure to care most about.

However, for the die-hard Galaxy S fans, the Galaxy S6 might be a let down. The replaceable battery and microSD support that were series mainstays are gone. Were those features an acceptable price to pay for a nicer looking device? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below. Read More.....
